Mehurt was a celestial cow that gave birth to the sky. She was daughter to Amon and Mut. She represented the spiritual river of heaven and the water where life had started. As associated with the cult of Isis, she was protector of the deceased in the Underworld. Her main cult was at Kalabsha 50 km south of Aswan and as goddess of the annual inundation her name there, Mehet- Weret, ment "big flood".
