During the period just prior to the dynasty 1 many marks on primarly pots were indi-cating royal posession or the king himself. What was later to be called "sereks" imi-tating the palace facade of the king's mansion, developed from simple squares into more elaborated structures containing the king's symbol with a falcon (or two) atop.
