A strategic part of the Nile

This is the part of the Nile today known as the "Quena bend". The ancient nome
with capital Dendera had its own path to the Red Sea and Coptos belonged to the kingdom of Nagada to the south. Hu was tied to Thinis further north, and this may have left the Dendera province somewhat independent in between.
